⁹  We elected to estimate depression outside of the model, rather than to estimate it in the model as a latent variable, because estimating latent-by-latent interactions within structural equation modeling is relatively understudied and often considered infeasible. We divided grand-mean-centered depression severity by 100 to aid model convergence.
